Of Corsets Addiction
We follow a simple template - a play appears at the Abbey and we go to see it after learning something about the play first. Following our experiencing the play, we create a response to it. We have previously been to 'Alice in Funderland', 'The Plough and the stars' and 'King Lear (http://www.saolproject.ie/news-2013-01-kinglear.php and http://www.saolproject.ie/Saol-at-the-Abbey.php for more)
In May we went to see Hedder Gabler, a play about a woman caught within the confines of societies expectations of her. Corseted by life and by her costume, the restrictions were explored by the women in SAOL (click image below to see the video)
SAOL also worked with Sarah Jane Scaife last November to create their own taste of Beckett in the project. It was a chance to work with grief and loss and to explore the impact of changes in the experience of our daily lives. The first video depicts the saol sister's interpretation of the play; the second video offers an interpretation as adapted by Meadhbh. Note that the sound is not so good on the first video so you will need to listen carefully!
