Reduce the Use

As mentioned on our Reduce the Use Resources Page, Reduce the Use 2 was launched in November 2011, with the specific aim of assisting projects in meeting the needs of clients presenting with poloy drug use and addiction. This pack was created by SAOL with the input of local projects, services and clients. The Pack contains three independent resources which draw on international best practice and have been adapted for an Irish context.

The 10 module course designed for groups of clients who wish to reduce or stop their cocaine use, is being run on a continual basis in the SAOL Project.  It is run specifically for women.  (SAOL does offer support for men with cocaine issues but only on an individual, brief intervention basis).

This group programme runs on a Tuesday afternoon and a Thursday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:15.  Running in a cyclical manner, people can join after their assessment interview, with a typical course lasting between 8 and 10 weeks.

Although specifically designed for working with cocaine use, this programme invites any woman who is stabilising and reducing her drug use - in reality most group members are poly-drug users.

Any woman from the North Inner City can apply to come along - all it takes is a phone call and one meeting.

In order to get a place on this group, please contact Ger O'Rourke or Barry Costello, forwarding the basic information of:

Please note that an assessment interview will be arranged within 7 working days, with all suitable applicants joining the group immediately after assessment.
